interesting alternative to conventional hinges

These are OK. Installation is miserably tough, on a couple of levels: 1. getting the holes lined up for top and bottom is quite difficult, and there's no room for error. 2. they're a super tight fit into 14mm holes. I got a new Lee Valley brad point drill for this application, so I know the problem wasn't the drill. They're nice when installed, and do give a clean look. Just be prepared for some struggles during installation.
