I met Celestron through photography and know they make good glass. When I decided to upgrade my standard 7 X 35 binoculars I looked at several manufacturers including Celestron. Their reputation may have given them an edge, but the reviews supported that well. For the price they are a solid feeling, good quality, easy to use instrument. Contrary to what some reviewers have said, these binoculars are neither too heavy or too powerful to be hand-held. They have a very solid tripod mount if you want to have a stable platform. (You can either buy or make an adapter to mount it.) They work well and produce a sharp bright image. However there were two features that were disappointing, hence the 4 instead of 5 rating, and had I paid more I would expect more. The binocular strap was cheap and not worthy the glasses. I had an extra camera strap that worked perfectly. The case strap was not only fashioned illogically, but it had a twist in it as well. A few minutes of ripping stitches and re-stitching produced the strap that SHOULD have been on the case. Had I not been familiar with Celestron quality I would have questioned optics that came with such cheap and cheaply made accessories. I think Celestron would do well to invest a little more in better quality materials and manufacture of these components. The case itself is fine; heavy nylon, slightly padded and neither dust nor moisture proof.
