A Must Read

Kit Brennan has always been known as the good daughter by her other sisters.  She's a school teacher, loves to read and is always there for her family.  While in Capitola, where her family has a beach house, Kit meets Jude. He's everything she's not and not someone that her family would approve of. He's a bad boy that wears a leather jacket, rides a motorcycle and has tattoos. They couldn't be more different, but there's just something about him that draws Kit in. Can opposites really attract? Or are their lives too different? At school Kit gets a new student, Delilah. She's very withdrawn and not like the other kids. Kit finds out that Delilah is hiding a very dark secret. One that can threaten her very own well-being. Kit is caught between wanting to do the right thing as a teacher and adult, but not wanting to do anything that would potentially put Delilah in harm's way. In the meantime, Kit is battling being single, but wanting a child of her own. She has been seriously considering adoption, but not getting the support from her family. They don't think that a single parent should have a child and they're not too keen on adoption. Will Kit listen to her family's advice or will she follow her heart? Once again, Jane Porter has written another 5 star worthy book. This book is full of twists and turns, passion and romance and love and heartache. The author does a great job touching on some serious subjects in a tasteful, respectful manner. I really enjoyed reading this book and getting to know the Brennan sisters more. I think it's a story that many can relate to, but not a lot would admit to. I would definitely recommend this book to others. I would, however, suggest reading the first book in this series, The Good Woman, prior to this one. It will give a better sense of the dynamic of the family. I loved this book and read it in a day. It was one that was hard to put down and you didn't want to end.

A marvelously well written story

Jane Porter's "The Good Daughter" is a marvelously well written story packed with heavy scenes, almost hearth breaking scenes, and smocking hot scenes. Jane Porter tackles the hard stuff in the book with bravura but she still has enough skill as a writer to leave her readers with a good feeling. She delivers a powerful book but does not forget that her readers like a happy ending. Jane Porter´s "The Good Woman" and "The Good Daughter" are somewhat different from her other books. She tackles hard themes in both books and in book one we get the same type of ending like we see in Jane Porter´s "The Frog Prince". In "Jane Porter´s "The Good Daughter" we see a more traditional Jane Porter ending. This is book two in the "The Brennan Family" trilogy and I can´t wait to read "The Good Wife" that´s out in September 2013. Book one is Jane Porter´s "The Good Woman".

Kit Brennan has always lived her life helping and taking care of others. She is the good girl, raised in a good family, a Catholic school teacher, but not much of a life for herself. She desperately wants a family and comes to the point of deciding to adopt. While on a weekend trip with her friends, she meets Jude Knight, the bad boy. He is everything she has avoided in her life. Long hair, tattoos, a motorcycle, and an attitude to go along with it. What is it about this man that has attracted her? She doesn't know at first.. Then, he is gone, but she can't get him out of her mind. A new student has enrolled in her school, a teenage girl with a troubled family. Delilah, doesn't do well in school at first, distant and unwilling to get along with anyone. After an incident where she does something very bad in school, Kit needs to talk with her parents, whom Delilah is afraid to call. She calls her neighbor instead, her confidant, who turns out to be bad boy Jude. Kit and Jude get to know each other better and help Delilah through her tough times. All the while, Kit's mother is in her final days of her cancer. There is a lot going on, but not too much for Kit and Jude to find their way to loving each other. This is a wonderful emotional tale that I really enjoyed reading. I loved the first of this series, The Good Woman and can't wait for the next book, The Good Wife. Jane Porter's books are always full of real life issues many of us deal with on a daily basis.
