The ol' standby

I grew my very first herbs in these pellets using takeout containers as my "greenhouse." Since then I have a much larger, more legitimate-looking setup. I tried to save money this year with a large tray with peat strip cells and soil and I ended up with a lot of fungus gnats. I greatly prefer the peat pellets. So easy to water from the bottom, easy to monitor root growth, so easy to transplant. I'll always go back to peat pellets.

Easy to use.

Warm water works best when saturating pellets. Put in container with pressed circle and hole in netting up. I fill my tray half way up with warm water. Discs will float temporarily. Be sure discs are fully saturated before planting.

Easy seed starting

I use these every year about 6 weeks before Good Friday to get my seed started. They are so easy to use and plant, once the ground is warm enough for transplanting.
