The food carriage is to far away from the blade. Yes you can adjust the thickness of the food by moving the blade but you're still a half of an inch away from the blade. You would never slice anything deli thin. I'm going to return it.

Dangerous disappointing junk

This is the worst retail product I've purchased in 20 years. The platform that you adjust for thickness was warped resulting in rounded cuts as you move up your stock. The food carriage is not smooth. The food holder does not slide down easily up against your stock to keep pressure on it resulting in it falling below onto the frame instead of staying in place to be sliced. The spikes on the food holder handle do not grip the food. The 1 inch gap between the bottom of the food carriage and was slicing unit itself is exactly where your stock falls as you try to move through your slices. The slices themselves that do not make it into your waiting hand roll around the blade tucking themselves into a place that requires you to remove both the blade cover which (also bent inward) and the blade in order to retrieve. The motor itself is kind of loud but relatively smooth. Past that and the cool camo finish this $140 abomination performs worse than my $20 krups that falls apart in my hands. Realtree is a brand which I associate with quality. Too bad they're name is associated with this God awful product offering from magic chef. Don't buy it, it's junk and its dangerous.
