Bad instructions

Instructions start by saying cut all the pipes to fit. They never address or even mention that shortening the drain leg will cause the stopper not to fit... no guidance whatsoever on how to deal with this problem. I am still trying to figure it out, guess I need to cut off some rivets and try and adjust the length...
