Out of the package it's sharp enough to do most chores. Whith kiggt stone work and a strop it's a precision tool. It takes a keen enough edge for detail carving or making easy work of making fine feathers for fire craft. The sheath is of surprising quality and most importantly, it's safe carry. Some things you might want to do to improve the usefulness of the knife. Get one of the Fiskars $5 change sharpeners in the garden center. Sharpen the spine so that you can spark a ferro rod or scrape with it. Take a sanding block to the handle and knock off the the protruding imitation stag texturing. Not a lot. Just enough to file down the points sticking up. And while you are doing the task, might as well even up the handles. That's it. As is, it's a pretty spectacular knife for hunting, kitchen, or woodcraft. With the mods above and a finer edge acheived it makes a great Bushcraft knife. Never did much work with the Nessmuk bladestyle prior. The design now makes total sense as to the hump profile when actually I short, it's a great knife at $10 and change. I bought 4 all together. Will likely buy 2 more at this price and have some to give away or put in vehicles, etc.

Nice Blade for Canoe and Camp

I purchased this knife a couple of weeks ago and was very pleased with fit and finish. It was sharp to start with and it feels good in my hand. I have done some minor cutting and can tell it will be a good camp knife. Looking forward to hitting the woods with it. I had it shipped to Walmart near me so there were no added shipping cost, which was a plus as well.

A Nessmuk knife at a Nessmuk price.

Finally, a Nessmuk knife you can afford. I don't know about bonded titanium. This thing feels and acts like stainless. For 10 bucks I figured I could take a risk. And I am glad I did. Factory edge on mine was clean and even. Took almost no time at all to put my own edge on, and it's shaving sharp. The handle is delrin, but it feels and looks like antler. I will probably replace the handle, and it will be easy because it is not riveted on--they bolted it. Nice. Blade is not too thick or too thin. Though it is hollow ground, the grind is high enough to get the edge thin and useful. I have used it in the kitchen, and have batoned a few pieces of kindling with it. So it isn't a custom 200 dollar "Nessmuk." Well, Nessmuk wouldn't have bought a knife for 200 bucks either. Sheath is nylon with some vinyl on it. Going to make my own for it. I have a bunch of expensive and rare knives that I am afraid to take out on the lake or river (I just know I'd drop one in the lake). Drop this one: "click" order a new one for 10 bucks. In fact, I just ordered another one...
