From the advertisement picture I thought the cup was made of metal but it is actually plastic. It still looks great. We had to swap out the large silver hooks that it came with for smaller hooks since the large hooks made our hummingbird feeder hang way too low. Also, it seems to be doing a great job of keeping ants out of the feeder.
