What's that smell?

This type of hose can't be that tightly wound up and stuffed into a box. It was badly kinked and flat in areas that lowered the water pressure. Plus, it smelled horrible, like raw sewage. I cleaned it with Windex, soap, alcohol, and sprayed with Lysol, but the smell could not be conquered. I abruptly returned it and bought the Mainstays that worked perfectly and didn't smell.
