Pine chips or pellets can poison your pets if they chew too much of it. Cedar does not. This lasts my house rabbit about 9 months to a year for her litter box. Smells great as soon as you open it. The cedar scent works well with herbivore waste(poop!). I throw this with my rabbits waste right into my garden beds. Unlike pine, cedar does not change the pH of the soil. The thin shavings make sure it composts pretty quickly. The shavings can deter snails too, they don't like to go over them too much. Shipped fast, without wasteful packaging. Bought 3 so far, no defects in packaging or mold.

I have physical limits, and 3 cats. I can not easily carry heavy cat litter. I use this as cat litter, then recycle it and pour it around the edge of my property as mulch, which recycles and de-composes. I can not do this in winter so it goes in the rubbish. But it is so light weight for me this works. I still sometimes use other cedar cat litter when I can buy it reasonably. Sometimes put the regular cedar cat litter on top but they have all started using this. Sometimes there is a nasty stick in it and I remove those but they are obvious and not a huge negative. I will keep buying these.
