We purchased this after being less-than-pleased how our generic red-base, white-top waterers were holding up. I had seen this item previously in the store, and I admit because it was attractive, I thought it might not hold up--I was wrong! The plastic is very heavy duty and stands up well to our high-power hosing off and cleaning. It looks cheerful, and unlike the generic plastic poultry waterers, you can actually see the quality of the water your chickens are getting, which you can't see in the white translucent models. While we are using ours currently as a waterer, with a simple flip of the green base, you could also screw in the feed side, and use it as a feeder. We plan to phase out our red-and-white models and replace them all with cheery green Happy Pets model.
