For years Ball jars and lids have proven their worth to me. I've never had a brand new jar be chipped (and I've bought cases of jars that were missing a jar due to breakage from being mishandled). Sure, you can buy cheaper, off brand jars and they do the job. But I've had a few break during processing, cooling down and even during storage. Not the case with Ball jars; you've gotta put some effort into breaking them. I've never had a sealing problem with Ball jars. If I've had a problem it was a bad lid (and those were not Ball brand lids). If I sound biased, that's because I am. My Granma, my Mother, my wife and myself have had good results with the Ball brand. And any time that I've used other brands, I usually end up disappointed.

These are the same nice thick glass jars that I've used to can in, for the last 40 years, and the same that my mother and GRANDMOTHER used, before that! Granny was a Mormon and she canned hundreds and hundreds of jars for her stash! Just 1 TIP: Never EVER heat up something in them in the microwave!!! I think it weakens the glass somehow, and it may burst, next time you can in it. Otherwise, they're SOLID as a tank! 🤗
