I only used the trimmer a couple of times, but I can say that from my old Wahl it's such a step up that makes me regret what I've been missing. Obviously, I can't yet evaluate the longevity of the mechanism, battery life etc., but the first impression is amazing: with a sufficiently sturdy build and overall pleasant handling, it feels powerful and yet soft-sounding like a purring cat. I trim on the lowest 0.5 mm setting, and on a 3-day stubble it takes one pass to literally see the difference between the areas. Granted, the guard piece is plastic and, as I saw in other reviews, may bend under pressure thus negating the length setting, but the truth is that (at least with my short "beard") you simply don't need to press at all. The charging stand situation certainly looks flimsy, but the electrical connector goes deep enough into the body for it to remain upright nicely, provided you find a nice quiet corner on your vanity that prevents it from an accidental whacking off. Barring that, its minimalist design is actually quite appealing. I tried the nose piece, the narrow and the wide trimmers, and all performed well. The switch from one to another is no hassle, and the click is pretty satisfying. The grey body trimmer piece on the "intimate" areas is perfectly fine unguarded for the flat surface at the front down there, but of course further down you have to be very careful not to nick the skin, unless you are willing to reuse the facial guard with it, which is my belief that with proper hygiene not a problem. Didn't use the grade guards and the stencil, as they are just of no use for me, at least at the moment. Separately, I'd like to mention the mini shaver: it's probably fine for some "emergency" jobs, but certainly doesn't replace the regular one - no matter how many passes you make with it, you won't achieve real nakedness, but I suspect that, mini or not, it's the overall disadvantage of that design as compared to rotary. Disclaimer: I never tried the real non-rotary shaver. The travel case is fine and strong enough to withstand some load in your suitcase, but under heavy pressure it may deform. I didn't try the device under water. In conclusion, I would prefer to have this kind of device to include a full shaver, which is especially useful in travel, but for some reason it's hard to come by on the market. Regardless of that, for its purpose, so far this Braun performed rather well.
