These paper plates are deep enough to be used as bowls, which is especially convenient. Although it makes no claims it is sturdy enough for really hot items like stew or soup, I wouldn't use these for that unless I doubled(or tripled)up on the plates, if at all. These are perfectly designed for lightweight meals and snacks and deep enough to hold popcorn, candies, waffles, Hot Pocket types of snacks-meals, Pop Tarts, and even cereal with milk.
