Doesn't work - look elsewhere

I plug the cable into my drive and my MacBook Air, but it is not recognized as a volume. The drive is getting power and spins up, and a system report shows the USB is seeing the seagate drive, but apparently it can't be mounted. I even looked in disk utility and it's not showing up there either. When I use a regular USB-A on my old iMac, the drive works so fine so it's not the drive - it's this cable not working well.
