Replacing a 6' wide wood and aluminum threshold

A friend of mine was selling his 32 year old house which had a badly deteriorated 6 foot wide adjustable wood and aluminum double door threshold. It had been installed with no protection from splashing water every time it rained. It was amazing that there was any of the wood part still intact. After a thorough search for a replacement, at Walmart online, I found The MD brand threshold which appeared to be an identical to the original. The price was very favorable compared to all other aluminum and wood adjustable thresholds. The installation went well and I used a high grade Silicon caulk under and in front of the outer aluminum edge. That should keep the wood dry. I expect the replacement to outlast the original but with no deterioration.
