Only 220 were built and represented the basic vehicle for FIA homologation. At DM 195,000, it was the most expensive German production car - a handsome price, despite its exclusivity and full equipment. After Tornado Red, Alpine White was the most frequently ordered color for the sportiest Audi of the 1980s. 48 of the 220 Sport quattro cars built wore this color.
