Edison Grain Inc., and its subsidiary, Edison Grainery are certified by The Gluten-Free Certification Organization, a program of the Gluten Intolerance Group of North America to sell Gluten Free Oats.

We adhere to their requirements of quarterly in house - random testing. We take it one-step further and supplement with an outside commercial food lab testing and rely on professional analysis before declaring an ingredient "gluten free".

In July, the Federal Department of Agriculture published guidelines for labeling packaged foods as "gluten-free".

Manufactures must limit the amount of gluten to less than 20 parts per million (ppm). The rule also requires foods with the claims "no gluten", "free of gluten "and "without gluten" to meet the definition for "gluten-free."

In addition to limiting the unavoidable presence of gluten to < 20 ppm, the FDA will allow manufacturers to label a food "gluten-free" if the food does not contain any of the following: * an ingredient that is any type of wheat, rye, barley, or crossbreeds of these grains * an ingredient derived from these grains and that has not been processed to remove gluten * an ingredient derived from these grains and that has been processed to remove gluten, if it results in the food containing 20 ppm gluten

The certification process is only as good as our vetted supply. When we are able, we obtain Gluten Free Oats from a certified GF vendor. Each lot purchased would be certified Gluten Free with traceable origins.

We have many loads that DO NOT have a Gluten Free Pedigree, but after 3rd party Lab analysis, showing results of less than 20 part per million. We offer these oats as GLUTEN TESTED <20ppm.

While lab results that suggest <20 ppm, there can be "hot spots" or inconsistencies\' with higher ppm numbers. This could be problematic to the end user therefore, we clearly label our products to reduce confusion and avoid the suggestion of impropriety.

After providing our customers with lab results and Certificate of Analysis, it is up to their discretion on how to advertise.

Edison Grain is working with Organic Oat suppliers in Finland, to execute a formal Gluten Free program. Our hope is to secure a vetted, pedigreed supply that we feel confident to label as Gluten Free.

Directions

Bring 2 cups water and ¼ tsp. salt to boil. Stir in 1 cup Edison Grainery Organic Quick Cooking Oats. Reduce Heat, stir occasionally. Cover and cook for just 5 minutes.
