Willem Blaeuw is attributed to the first beautiful maps of the known world and published the first atlas in Amsterdam, where he was born in 1571. In 1605 he published a wall map that was 8 feet in length and was made up of 20 sheets. During this period, this map was seen to be the most accurate description available.
