A native of Kansas City, MO and a veteran of World War II, Hugh entered the K.C. Mo. Police Academy in the early 1950's. Upon completion at the academy he became one of Kansas City's finest, a K.C. Policeman. His active duty with the department came to an abrupt halt when he and his motorcycle met with an accident while chasing a speeding car. After many months of hospitalization and many more months of therapy, he returned to the department as their librarian and historian. From this he developed a great interest in the early history of the department and its connection to the city of Kansas City. He spent hours at the library and did much research which resulted in many short stories, some humorous and some serious, but all factual. His untimely death in 1997 left his son, Michael, also a retired K.C. police officer with 30 years of law enforcement to his credit, with the awesome promise to see that these stories be put in order and have them published. After four and a half years of sorting and more researching, this task has been completed and I am sure his father would say, "Well Done, Mike". And from me, his mother, I say Thank You. Book jacket.
