This highly anticipated memoir by Shushanna Shakur tells the story of her brother, the outstanding revolutionary activist, Chokwe Lumumba. Chokwe's life is both significant and remarkable: he protested discrimination and unfair treatment; he also helped procure resources for better and fair living conditions, working, and educational environments; he fought legal injustices and worked to vindicate and free the wrongfully convicted. Ultimately, he touched thousands of lives throughout the United States and also some outside of this country.
As Chokwe's younger sister, Shushanna lived with him, was mentored by him, worked for him in his law firm, and worked alongside him in the New Afrikan Independence Movement and within several revolutionary organizations. Not only does Shushanna share her personal perspective, she also includes storytelling from Chokwe's other siblings, his former law partners, and many of his comrades to convey Chokwe's life story in a unique way.
