I had a little bugger rat running around in my back room, put out bait he ignored it tried other traps, he snapped them but wasn't caught. Saw these and tried them. Bait with peanut butter it's like catnip for rats they cannot resist it. The bait cup screws in from the bottom so you don't have to put your fingers in the trap. I put two of these out where I'd seen him next morning I found him under a table with both traps on him, one got his leg the other got him by the middle, these are great and very sensitive. They seem sturdy enough but not terrier proof, mine find one and chewed it up so I need to hide them better I suppose. I bought a couple more and found I had another guest, put these around where the dog had been sniffing with great interest and got that one too the next morning; dog brought me the trap with the critter in it. The way the bait cup is made there is no way for them to grab the bait without being caught. Some may say these are cruel but I daresay they don't know what hit them, poison can take awhile to kill and these keep your pets and other wildlife safe from accidental poisoning. The critters I had were a bit smaller than squirrel sized so if you've got new york sized monster rats these might not be big enough I think they should make a third size for those.
