Red Line Synthetic Racing Oils have earned a reputation as a premier racing lubricant. Marketers of other lubricants often claim to be “as good as Red Line Racing Oils,” but many teams rely on Red Line for its proven performance and equipment durability, both critical to winning. Red Line race oils are formulated with highly stable synthetic base stocks, delivering exceptional high-temperature lubrication and superior film strength compared to conventional petroleum and many synthetic products. Their ability to lubricate hot metal has allowed engines to continue performing, and even win races, after coolant loss without severe damage. Although Red Line Race Oils are straight grades, their low-temperature properties provide multi-grade-like performance. These oils can deliver 2–4% more power than oils of similar viscosity while maintaining greater protection. Each reduction in viscosity grade may provide an additional 1–2% increase in power. To help reduce the risk of detonation, these race oils contain minimal detergents and are not recommended for street use.
