While I don't have the setup in an umbrella stand yet, I have opened the umbrella and the fabric is thick enough to give considerable shade. The post is also very sturdy and a solid weight. I literally got this 30 minutes ago and it's up, Putting up was a breeze. There is nothing to put together. I had 2 umbrella bases from my last umbrellas that got damaged in a recent storm, so make sure you have your bases. I had 2 universal bases so I went with the one that fit best. This thing is huge. The mechanism to open the umbrella is also very easy to adjust.Might get another one for over the pool.

such a great find

im so excited for this, it fits my table set perfectly. i do wish the color was darker as its not super sunny right now and i can see a littke sun through it. set up was so easy, two steps and it was done. this does not come with a base, which i knew but you do need one to hold it. i have a 60lb and that seems to be just fine. the crank to open and close is so easy and convenient because this is also tall! it doesnt seem like its truly big until its open.
