I purchased this because I wanted to make "real" couscous--not the kind from a box. I read a few reviews that mentioned using this steamer pot for couscous, so I decided to give it a try. It worked beautifully. I used about a pound of Moroccan couscous--which I also purchased from Walmart. This steamer worked fine for that. Now, the pot itself is not large enough to hold the meat and seven vegetables that a traditional couscous calls for. So I used it to cook the meat and some of the vegetables that take the longest to cook. When it was time to add other vegetables, I took some of the bouillon from this pot, and added it to a second pot. Maybe a real couscoussier would have given better results, but I found that this worked just fine, and the cost of a real couscoussier was way beyond my budget. My guests certainly enjoyed the meal!

I was trying to find a replacement for a steamer pot that I already owned.  Unfortunately after 15 or so years of heavy use, the handles had broken.  I found this one online, checked the dimensions and decided it was comparable.  Most of the time I'm cooking for 6 to 12 people.  Well when it got here I discovered it was considerably smaller than the one I had, and the insert was not nearly as deep.  So it won't hold as much food as I need for a larger group.  However it's really the perfect size for meals for smaller numbers.  I've actually used it more often than I did my big one.  It is a good heavy weight and sturdy so it shouldn't warp.  Very pleased with it.
