Lifesaver For Me

I was being eaten alive by nasty biting black flies, so I bought a bottle of this Permethrin clothing spray and treated my shirt, slacks, socks and shoes. I went from dozens of itchy, swollen bites to zero bites the next day. This clothing spray also helps with ticks and mosquitoes, so I highly recommend it if you're an active outdoor person like me. For the exposed skin on my neck and face, I used 20% picaridin insect repellent, another great product made by Sawyer

I don't do anything outdoors without this!

I find myself constantly walking in fields and in the woods where there are heavy amounts of ticks, fleas, and chiggers. Ever since I started treating my clothes with this, I've never been bitten by these bugs. I have found dead ticks on my socks and pants and I thank permethrin for keeping them from biting me. The bottle says it treats 5 outfits, but I've been able to treat many more. You don't need a lot to get clothes fully treated. It is still possible to be bitten by insects while using this product. I didn't mention mosquitoes because permethrin works best on bugs that stay on you for an extended period of time. Ticks, chiggers, and fleas stay on your body to search for a place to bite. Mosquitoes only sit on you long enough to bite and then fly away. The mosquitoes probably still die after contact, but it would be after they've already bitten you. However, this is only a small negative thing, an easy remedy would be to just wear thicker clothes or combine this with DEET. It's also possible that if you treat the clothes more heavily than me, the mosquitoes would die more quickly. Now if you're like me and do a lot of back country, off the trail hiking, you will get a lot of exposure to bugs. In bug heavy areas, this product works best when I tuck my pants into my socks so there is no gap for bugs to reach my legs under my pants. Overall I love this product and I've used it for years! I highly recommend it!

I was getting lots of bites from either chiggers or mosquitoes this year when working in my flower beds due to a lot of spring rains. I treated a long sleeve shirt, socks and some old tennis shoes and a pair of long pants and even a hat. I've worn them twice and not one bite. I'm thrilled. I haven't washed them yet and probably won't for a few more wearings. I probably didn't need the large bottle but may try it on some of my golf shorts, shirts and shoes . I followed the directions closely as it must be pretty strong stuff.
