I got this for my niece so I waited until well after her birthday to leave feedback, but it was worth the wait it seems. She loves doing jigsaw puzzles and a lot of those kinds of more educational type activities, so I figured this would be a good get. I know she adores pandas also, which made this a super easy choice. It's a series set of buildings blocks for starters. I of course mean that there's lots and lots of blocks, hundreds of them actually. Be ready to put some time in, or give it to someone who loves this kind of stuff like I did, and then just enjoy the process. The instructions are crucial, so take it step by step and try to be patient. That's my advice anyway. The end result is awesome, especially for panda fans. My niece officially approves this message, as she did a good portion of the actual work on this one and gave me a lot of the feedback on what to say about this building set.

I think this kit is best for adults and older teenagers who are VERY detail oriented, organized, and comfortable interpreting brick building instructions. The listing and box recommend 8 , but I don't think that's an appropriate rating based on the challenging instructions. The quality of the pieces was high, with no warping or manufacturing defects. Everything I tried was compatible with other brick systems I own. I wanted to build this project with my son, but I ended up starting on my own because I was worried about how short the instruction book was. It's short because the instructions combine so many steps into one illustration! As an adult, I found it very difficult to follow and I kept turning back and forth between pages to cross reference. I ended up getting out a magnifier and pencil to ensure I was placing pieces correctly, making the correct number for each substep, and marking substeps as complete as I went. There was just no way I was going to be able to share that process with a young child. I gave it my best shot for about two hours and I gave up because it didn't suit the purpose I wanted it for AND it wasn't fun for me. I prefer kits with more detailed instructions that illustrate steps more frequently. I know that some brick building fans enjoy challenging builds, but I am more of a casual builder and I really wanted a project I could do with my child. If the box and listing were labeled differently, I would have known to pass on this kit for one more age appropriate and fun for children.
