Swing set my Granddaughter can grow up with
Granddaughter approved, grandma exhausted (in a good way) Bought the Dover Bay this spring for my granddaughter and honestly, best money we've spent in a long time. Quick heads up on the build since I was nosy about that before ordering. My son got the main structure together in about 7 hours. Not bad for one guy going at his own pace. The tube slide was its own project, another 2.5 hours to put together and get attached. Then we spent maybe 45 minutes spraying the whole thing down with a clear matte poly to help it hold up to the Missouri weather. So figure a full day if you've got a helper, a weekend if you don't. Totally doable. Nothing about the instructions threw him for a loop. Once it was up, she was ON it. The tube slide is her number one. She calls it her "secret tunnel" and will go down it about a hundred times in a row. The wavy slide is her backup when there's a line (meaning a cousin is visiting). I've got a picture of her just sitting at the top of the tube looking like she's plotting something, which she usually is. The rock wall is my favorite thing to watch. She was iffy about it at first, couldn't quite get her feet where she wanted them, and now she scrambles right up without even thinking. The little telescope and steering wheel up top turn the tower into whatever she's pretending that day. Lookout tower, pirate ship, spy headquarters. Makes me laugh every time. Swings are great too. Two regular belt swings and a big round nest swing she loves to flop into with all her stuffed animals. I may or may not have climbed in the nest with her once. My back is still talking to me about it. Stuff I'd tell another grandma: * It's not cheap and it's not a quick build, but it is SOLID. You can tell right away it isn't the flimsy stuff. * Measure your yard before you order. It's bigger in person. * Anchor your set. The wind out here doesn't mess around. * The clear matte poly we sprayed on top was absolutely worth the 45 minutes. Peace of mind for however many seasons of rain and sun she's gonna put this thing through. * She's four. I fully expect her to still be out there when she's ten. Thanks Backyard Discovery. Good quality and a straight forward build.
Bought this set for a customer of mine and they love it. It's a good set with good features. I've built thousands of sets and I like this one. I would say the only downside is I'm not fond of the screws that are used to attach the spiral slide to the fort. Took me around 7 hours to build.
