This cat house was super easy to assemble. The escape door being adjustable to how you want it to open (only in, only out, both in and out, neither) is one of my fav features, so much so that I kinda wish the entrance door were the same (but maybe there wouldn't be enough air circulation inside then) instead of having a stiff flap that makes it easier to get in than out, yet even with going in, it's in the way of the straw placed inside. Which brings me to my other point...both doors are low to the ground, which makes it hard to have much of any straw inside. Both doors should be raised higher...but here's to hoping that the manufacturer will actually read this and make the change. The included mat is nice for indoor-only purposes...in my case, it was useless for the outdoor strays since it isn't waterproof and would soak up moisture and freeze them. Also, it would be nice if the roof were easier to open for cleaning (changing of straw), and if the cat house were just a little bigger. Seller does have a larger one, but it seems a bit too big for one cat, plus I couldn't pay so much more for it especially since I needed two houses. Lastly, it would be nice if there was a drain on the bottom for any rain/snow that does come in to drain safely instead of pool on the bottom. There are very small gaps in the corners of this cat house, which do not look like enough to drain water and provide air circulation...almost a bit too waterproof/airtight IMO.
