Description
Cryptomeria Black Dragon is a compact cultivar of Japanese cedar selected for its rich, shadowy foliage and naturally layered branching. New growth emerges soft and verdant, maturing to a dark, saturated green that reads nearly black in cool light. The plant forms a tidy, upright cone without constant pruning, making it a low-maintenance architectural accent.
In colder months the needles may take on a gentle bronze cast, adding seasonal dimension. Its modest size, slow pace, and evergreen reliability make ‘Black Dragon’ an excellent choice for foundation plantings, Asian-inspired gardens, and modern landscapes where sculptural silhouettes matter.
