Good ac

The fan feature is great 1-6 settings and that is just fan no ice or water. I put cold water in and no ice packs and it cooled my house down by 2 degrees in like 30 minutes. Has a nice handle for moving around and wheels. Comes with ice packs to use in water tank for more cold. Has a night mode not sure it makes it quieter. Has nice timer feature. Has a good remote. Feels well made. I might take off the wheel it feels unstable with them on. Noise level is good.

Garvee Portable Evaporative Cooler

In a nutshell: Winner, winner, chicken dinner! Negatives: The operation manual and remote control are shipped inside the water tank. The tank shipped locked. I'm not the brightest bulb in the drawer, but I walked away from the unit frustrated right out of the box, as I could not get the tank open. Turns out, there's a locking mechanism for the water tank improperly labeled "On/Off". An hour after I walked away confused, I returned to the unit, decided to put logic aside, monkey with controls, turned the mechanism to "Off". Lo and behold, that released to tank lock! Hellos, manual. Then I read the manual. The manual is just plain poor. Fortunately, evaporative (swamp) coolers are simple technology, and I have experience with the whole house version. Alls well that ends well. Positives: This unit does what I need it to do. I live in the desert southwest. 100 degree days and sub-15 percent humidity are the norm for months on end (NOT the one of the positives!). This evaporative cooler, running on "cool", speed setting 3 of 6, adds 20-25 percent humidity to the air, and reduces the room temperature 2-3 degrees! I'm loving it. I set up a 2.5 gallon Brita (or similar) reservoir w/filter just above the back of the unit where the water tank slides out. Makes filling the tank every 4-6 hours so very simple. I repeat: Winner, winner, chicken dinner!
