Emerald Goddess Liriope is a striking, low maintenance clumping perennial prized for its tall arching dark green foliage and long lasting lavender-blue flower spikes that rise prominently above the leaves each mid summer. Ornamental black berries follow after flowering and persist through mild winters. Big Blue also shows excellent resistance to crown rot and common diseases that trouble many other lily turf varieties. Use it for border edging, mass plantings, groundcover on slopes or banks, and as a textured backdrop in mixed beds. Its drought tolerance and deer resistance make it particularly appealing for landscapes in hot regions or those with active wildlife. In colder zones, protect the crown in winter or grow in containers to preserve its evergreen appearance.
