A great plane. Not for a beginner.

I can't say anything bad about this corsair. It has a few issues, which is why I gave it a 4 on quality, but I can't say anything bad about it.I received this plane as a christmas gift, and I was very intimidated by it. I would still consider myself somewhere between a beginner and intermediate pilot. It hung on my ceiling for 3 months before I decided I was ready to fly it. After all it was a gift...I didn't want to destroy it on it's first flight. Well, all of that fear was for nothing because the maiden flight couldn't have gone better! It is rock solid in the air and inspires confidence on landings. I only needed a few clicks of aileron trim and a few of up trim for level flight. I use full flaps with no wind and half flaps when there is a breeze. She settles into a nice glide slope on landings at 1-4 throttle. I now have over 20 flights on it and as I learn what it can do it just gets better and better! It is such a good looking bird, so when you fly it well...it looks awesome, and makes you feel awesome! The frame is VERY strong. I know this because I had a very close call at the field this past weekend. Someone watching may described a super sweet LOW LOW LOW loop coming right down to a foot off the deck, but what actually happened was a lucky save after a failed maneuver! Point is I came down FAST at the ground at pretty much full throttle and pulled up HARD and the wings didn't fold! I really thought the wings were going to fold. I yanked on the elevator and just watched and hoped...and she pulled through! The issues I have had with it come from a quality control stand point. The retract housings loosened up after about 5 flights. I solved this with some hot glue and haven't had an issue since. The other issue was with the fairings on the front of the retracts. The little screws that are supposed to hold them in place don't. One of them twisted and got caught in the retract doors on deployment causing the gear not to come down and I had to belly land...I took both of those little things off.The new V3 metal retracts are holding up fantastically well. The build was very straight forward, and easy, there was a small alignment issue with one of the screws that secure the wing to the fuselage, but I eventually got it sorted. There is also the rats nest of wires that is typical of all of these planes, but there is enough space in the fuselage to tuck them away and keep things tidy. There is also enough space to install a sound system! It doesn't fly very well with the big drop tanks on it which is too bad because they look great. The rockets don't have any noticeable effect on performance. I keep them on.I upgraded the wheels to 3" to help with ground handling. I do this to all of my 1400mm FMS planes. The larger wheels fit without any modification to the plane.I use a 4s 3600mah 35c pack and I get a solid 6 min flight at full throttle. I usually land at 5 min. Based on what I have been reading on my meter I could probably get 7 min and land at 6 min.Despite the solid flight characteristics, I would not recommend this plane for a beginner. It flies very well, but you have to play by the rules...which means you have to learn the rules. How to land faster, how to use flaps, how to keep your air speed up in turns, how to make coordinated turns etc. I attribute my success with this plane to my failures with the FMS Spitfire. I learned to fly warbirds on the Spitfire...this plane is a dream compared to that one.

Great looking Corsair

First off, I love fms. Do they have their downfalls? Sure just like every company. The trick is to upgrade the things that you don't like. The reason I bought this plane was that I wanted a Corsair that flew on 4s and didn't take up 6' of room. So the cons: the plane comes with a 540kv motor, not a lot of power. The plane doesn't have struts. And finally the tail wheel definitely could be a bit syringe. Now to combat the cons I upgraded the motor to a 650kv with unlimited power. I also ordered the struts from the fms P-40 to put on the Corsair. The Pros to the plane are a beautiful Finish, really has a beautiful look. With the upgraded motor she will be very powerful. And finally the flaps, they look so cool just like the real deal. Now the upgrades I did where not necessary but they are to my liking. So if you don't want to spend 440$ on a flightline plane, this is a great, smaller option. Enjoy!

Looks great

Great looking plane. I ended up putting washers under the rear screws of the landing gear to rake the wheels forward more, had a terrible tendency to want to nose over regardless of using full up elevator to try to keep the back end down. That seemed to help it but the struts are kind of weak in my opinion and the plane is under powered. You have to fly at pretty much full throttle the entire time to keep it in the air. Outside of that it looks great and flies well when its in the air.
