NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC Microscope for Kids - STEM Kit with an Easy-to-Use Kids Microscope, Up to 400x Zoom, Blank and Prepared Slides, Rock and Mineral Specimens, and More, Great Science Project Set The following is a review for the NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC Microscope for Kids - STEM Kit with an Easy-to-Use Kids Microscope, Up to 400x Zoom, Blank and Prepared Slides, Rock and Mineral Specimens, and More, Great Science Project Set. This takes me back to being a little kid and my sister got her chemistry set one year for Christmas. It came with a ton of little chemicals as well as a microscope and slides. We spent hours looking through the microscope and combining different chemicals together to see what would happen. Back then of course the microscope had to be plugged in like the ones at schools. This microscope uses batteries for the light to work. The kids spent a long time looking at pennies and the other slides that came with it to see what they looked like magnified under the microscope. They even prepared one of the slides with a drop pf water from the sink. They were so fascinated to see what all was in a little drop of water. I think this is a great educational device that all kids should have to open up a new world for them.

Great For Discovery

I just recently received a National Geographic Explorer Series Microscope. This little microscope is designed for children Ages six and up. But i must warn you that adults will love to use it also. Included in the box is a complete laboratory kit with about 35 pieces. Included are slides, labels, tweezers, pencil and even a few rocks for them to examine. When I first took a look at it I was thinking that it may slip off the table and break easily, but it has rubber non slip legs to keep that from happening. The magnification of the microscope is 40X, 100X, or 400X. This is acquired by the three rotating lenses. There are two LED lights that illuminate the samples from under or above the specimens. We started out by examining a human hair. The kids were so amazed that they were looking around to find other items to take a look at. Included in the kit is a lab guide that I would call an activity booklet. It explains different things to look at and has stickers with secret words on them that can only be seen under the microscope. That was an interesting activity. So, for the price point, the quality, the learning, and the fun I would recommend the National Geographic Microscope Kit.
