Broken out of the box

Got the laptop today, plugged it in, gave it a few minutes until the "fully charged" indicator light turned blue, hit the power button - nothing. No keyboard lights, no screen, the fans move for a moment and then stop. Tried the "holding down the power key" trick. Nothing. So, now I have to waste my time and my gas taking it to a FedEx location to ship to be serviced and then wait to get it back. It would have been nice to simply get a machine that worked, as advertised, when opening it for the first time, but I guess that was too high of a bar.
