Bolt on drive away happy

My Demon 1901 fired up the engine immediately and ran as good as expected. Slight idle adjust.

Worked great right out of the box!

Replaced a dead Q-Jet on a 1986 350 in a Chevy P30 stepvan. Installed it on the original spread bore manifold. Needed a minimum 3/8" spacer to clear the throttle blades and the manifold. For the record, I was concerned with how much the new throttle primary's were shrouded, and expected problems. Spoiler, there were none. Minor tweaks to the original air cleaner and throttle cable bracket, hooked up the fuel and vacuum advance, and it fired right up. Fast idle was dead on, choke worked properly, and kicked off the fast idle. Idle probably needs to come a bit, and I have not done any tuning yet. I'm not kidding when I say it is like having a new engine. Truck is a stick, and the Demon has made the idle so smooth and the transitioning of the various circuits make for a joy to shift it now. Pulls in second gear like a banshee. Don't need to downshift on long grades either. I had planned this carb to be a transition unit until I stepped up to Fuel Injection, but if this is how it runs with the Demon, I'm just going to leave that Demon right where it is.

putting this carburetor on

Sorry it took so long to get it on car. I don't have a nice heated place to work on my car , so I had to wait for warmer weather .Got the baby on without having to have to change everything for hook up . The one thing I'd like to see changed is the fuel inlet . I had a nice filter that bolted right to the inlet port . With this carb and the inlet pointed down changed all of that . After getting everything hooked up , I started the engine ( after priming the carb with a little gas ) 2 times . The baby ran great . Had to set the idle down a little . Took car for a 15 mile run and ( I think I'm getting just a little more gas millage ? ) It powers up good on the road , when I come to a stop it idles down good . The carb I took off after I would drive it and got it warmed up going some place and stop . ( like going to the coffee shop ) and come back to start engine (about 30 to 45 minutes ) It acted flooded all the time ? It was a Edelbrock performer 600 #1406 . What little I have got to drive and use the Demon carb now I haven't had any flooded start ups . Hope it stays that way . So for me this DEMON carburetor is working great . William
