3M Adflo Powered Air Purifying Respirator with 3M Speedglas welding helmet features a high efficiency particulate filter that can be stacked onto an optional 3M Adflo cartridge to offer added protection from OV/SD/CL/HC vapors. Compact and lightweight system comes with ion battery having life up to 12 hrs, high efficiency particulate filter and wide leather belt. It is designed for eye and face protection, flip-up solution as well as respiratory protection. Helmet featuring grinding and tack modes comes with 3M Speedglas auto-darkening filter 9100XX having viewing area of size 2.8'' X 4.2''. It meets ANSI Z87.1-2010 and NIOSH standards. It finds applications in grinding, stick, MIG/MAG, TIG, plasma and tack welding. Shade 5 welding helmet features flip-up assembly for grinding as well as prep work and has clear visor viewing area that measures 8'' X 4 1/4''. It includes storage bag, welding cap as well as starter kit and features 5-position sensitivity control. Helmet with adjustable recovery delay features ergonomic, adaptable head suspension for extra comfort, helmet stability as well as weight distribution. Flip front welding shield is included for a clear and wide-view protective visor for grinding as well as setup.

It is irresponsible to weld without one of these
I've had a SpeedGlas Adflo welding hood for years. Filtered air coming down over my face, full protection from welding atmospheres. Welding is full of nasty chemicals and I don't want to die like my welding teacher did of manganese poisoning etc. Old time pipewelders might have a cigarette under their Pipeliner hoods, they wanted to die young, and did. I don't understand why every welding program in the US doesn't set up their apprentices with one of these, first thing, as prerequisite to scratching their first stick. He-man invulnerability is for dead people and fools. Buy one. If you know a welder and want them to live: Buy one. If you teach welding to someone, buy one and lend it until they get one. It's irresponsible not to.

Best PAPR System.
I have used various Speedglas hoods for 17+ years and have tried a few other too. I've always ended up back with Speedglas products. My basic 9000 series hood is now 16 years old and has been dropped, kicked and set on fire and still works! This system gives the most protection with the most comfort and weight distribution. The air pack is stackable for most situations. It can have just a simple dust filter or you can add extra filters for more protection. The belt that the air pack is mounted to is well designed. Not just a piece of webbing with the pack hanging off it. It is leather with supports and fits well. This system also has a built in clear grinding shield so you can still have clean air when grinding between welds. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
