The Korean Service Medal honors U.S. Armed Forces personnel who served in the Korean War between June 27, 1950, and July 27, 1954. Measuring 1-1/4 inches in diameter and 2-7/8 inches in overall height, this medal features a pinback design for secure attachment.
The obverse side displays a Korean gateway, symbolizing the region and its cultural significance, encircled by the inscription "KOREAN SERVICE." The reverse side features the taegeuk symbol from the South Korean flag, surrounded by a laurel and oak spray, representing honor and strength.
The ribbon includes bluebird and white stripes, reflecting the colors of the United Nations, which played a significant role in the conflict. Bronze service stars are added to the ribbon to denote participation in specific campaigns.
