Key item features

Publishers Weekly,Children's NOTES Learn with Olivia What better way for toddlers to learn the basics than with two board books starring Ian Falconer's Olivia? Youngsters start with one ball at the beach (in the signature red-and-white stripes) and finish with ten Olivias jumping rope, doing handstands and sprawling on a beach towel in Olivia Counts. A red numeral accompanies each scene. In Olivia's Opposites she demonstrates word pairs with comic flair (for instance, she models a scarlet evening gown for long and a red tutu for short). Both feature b&w and red illustrations from Falconer's Caldecott Honor book, Olivia, and its companion, Olivia Saves the Circus. (June) (c) Copyright PWxyz, LLC. All rights reserved

Great Learning Tool

My five year old has a developmental delay which limits her vocabulary. This book was an excellent tool and I would recommend it to anyone trying to teach an emerging reader new sight words. I also think it is helpful in helping young minds grasp the concept of opposites. This is a great book for preschoolers and while some five year old children may find this an easy read it can help children who need that little extra boost. My special needs child reads this book to herself and I think it is simply wonderful.

Misled by product description

On Wal-Mart's site, this book was referred to as a "hardcover" which means that it is a big book with a hard cover to most people. However, when I got my book, it was a "boardbook" and not a "hardcover". The description needs to be changed. I enjoy the Olivia books but was disappointed that I wasn't getting a hardcover book like the site said.
