My Perfect Trail Running Shoe

I wore these shoes for the Kodiak100 50K.. I wasn't planning on wearing the Lone Peak, I was actually going to be wearing my Olympus'. I decided to go check the Altra tent out and demo these.. I ran around the block in them and loved how much space my toes had, and the light weight of the shoe. Altra let me demo these and I ended up wearing them the entire 50K. I was sad to give them back, but can't wait to order my own and put another 50K on them.

Got these Friday and on Saturday I did a 6 mile trail to test these shoes and on Sunday did a 15 mile trail. I now have new personal bests for both the 6 and 15 mile trails! Woohoo!

The exact shoe I've been looking for!

I've been getting into minimalist/barefoot shoes (wide, natural foot shape, zero drop, etc) but didn't want a super thin sole to go hiking. Most barefoot shoe companies have hiking shoes but have a sole that's just too think for my comfort for hiking at this time. So I wanted a trail shoe/boot that was zero drop and wide enough for toe spreaders that wasn't thin. Enter the Altra Lone Peak 4. Hiked with them right out of the box for two days straight and LOVE THEM. Everything I've been looking for and so comfortable. Unlike several other reviews, they're not coming apart yet. I hope those are just a few flukes and they stay in great shape. But I would probably keep buying them until I found an alternative even if they come apart!
