I bought a med/firm bed in a box that was way too firm for me so I purchased this topper. It was exactly what I needed. It cushions to relieve the pressure points and I no longer wake up in pain. My bed is soft %26 luxurious now, what a treat! I have noticed that the topper does retain some heat but the benefits far outweight that issue. I might try a "cooling" mattress pad in the future to see if it helps.
