About Giclee Prts
Giclee prtg is meant to produce a product at a higher quality and longer lifespan than a standard desktop kjet prter, the word was used to describe digital reproductions of conventional artworks (patg or drawg) or photographs.
There are at least Three basic criteria, which must be met order for the prt to be considered a true giclee...
1. For giclee prtg, the paper or substrate used to actually prt the fal piece must be acid free and consists of a 100% cotton base.
2. Any image that is to be prted as a giclee needs to be created at a resolution of no less than 300 dots per (DPI). This is to ensure that the fal prt has the sharpest detail and lacks any of the fragmentation that can occur with images less than 300 DPI.
3. The last step to creatg or confirmg a true giclee prt is the type of k and prter used. The biggest contrast between a standard kjet prt and a giclee prt is that giclees are prted usg pigment-based ks rather than the dye-based ks found lower cost kjets. Pigment-based ks have a longer life span that can last anywhere from 100 to 120 years without significant fadg.
The Quality : The quality of the giclee prt rivals traditional silver-halide and gelat prtg processes and is commonly found museums, art galleries, and photographic galleries.
