Nematode Control Marigold (Tagetes patula) is a French marigold variety specially selected for its ability to suppress soil-borne nematodes when grown and tilled under. These 30–40" tall, upright annuals provide natural pest defense while adding seasonal beauty with bright orange flowers and yellow centers. Deer and drought resistant, these hardy marigolds thrive in full sun and tolerate poor soils, making them ideal for raised beds, garden plots, or containers. Direct sow once soil is 60°F+, or start indoors 4–6 weeks before last frost. Space plants 8–15" apart. Germinates in 5–10 days and matures in 60–70. To maximize nematode suppression, till marigolds into the soil 1–2 weeks before planting your next crop. Avoid overhead watering to reduce risk of mildew and disease. Perfect for companion planting with tomatoes, cucurbits, potatoes, and more—this easy-to-grow, non-GMO cover crop supports healthy soil and blooms from summer through frost.
