Like the others-NOT this one

I am German born and raised and thought these books might be the perfect books to start introducing my kids to German. Nobody in my house speaks it so it's up to me to teach them, meaning they didn't get a chance to pick it up naturally by listening. I'm very disappointed in this book. As the cover shows, there are only photos of people in this book. Somehow, I expected more for my money. One picture per page with a person holding whatever tool for the trade with a different background, the German and English word underneath. Maybe using real people instead of cute drawings, age-appropriate for kids was supposed to be more appealing but not for my twin boys. This is a book that never gets pulled off the shelf. My boys have a lot of books and read them all in turn, but not this one! It was too much trouble to return it and end up paying for the shipping to my place that I kept it. Maybe when they get older, they'll appreciate it. I do not recommend this book. We have the Home, Fruits and Vegetable books and I like them. The Home book has pictures, not photos, of more than one item on each page. The Fruits and the Vegetables books are good and are actually helping with the English words, too. They have some common and some not so common fruits and vegetables and in this case, the photos, not pictures, are better because it looks like the real thing. We also have the numbers book, which is good for learning how to count in either language. I wanted to buy the other books, like Music and Sports, but I'm thinking that they will be exactly like the Jobs book. I will try to get the Opposites book, though. You can never go wrong with opposites, no matter what language. Hope this helps someone!
