Generally speaking, miniature load cells are made as small as possible to fit into limited space applications. Almost every type of load cell has a miniature equivalent. The disadvantage of making these force sensors so small is that you give up dimensional accuracy. For example, a miniature button load cell has a nonlinear range of 0.25% to 0.5%, while a larger tank load cell of the same capacity may be 10 times more accurate.
