It took me three tries to put this on correctly, but it works really well to support my knee with the torn meniscus. The trick is to keep the Velcro straps lined up straight with the top and bottom of the brace, and not let any of the brace hang below the Velcro straps. If find it to be very supportive and comfortable, except for a little bunched up material behind my knee. I measured about 4 inches above my knee, 22 inches, so decided to get the XXL. I'm not sure measuring the knee cap would work so well, but it might. My straps wrap about 2 inches past the knee cap on top.
