check the date

Like the other reviewer advised, be warned about getting old tires. I checked the date and they were almost 4 years old, so I took them back. Got them from Walmart.com and it never mentioned anything about being sold by another retailer, but all the info showed they were sent by another company who were prob. getting rid of their old stock.

reply from Supplier Response

Walmart works with the same network of wholesalers that most local tire dealer, national tire chains and vehicle dealer’s use to access tires. So, the same tire ordered through Walmart.com, is the same tire you would receive from any other local tire dealer. <br />As for date of manufacture, last 4 digits of the DOT serial number marks the week and year of manufacture.

General Tires Left me Stranded on the Interstate

These Generals are the worst tires I have ever purchased. Shortly after buying a set of four, I had them professionally mounted, balanced, and then installed on my 2015 Toyota Tacoma - the original tires were getting too worn after many, many, years of usage. I was on I-495 intestate outside Boston, going on a fishing trip with my children when the right front tire completely disintegrated, leaving us stranded on the side of the road. Please see pictures. The thread is basically new. The tire is obliterated. I contacted General Tire customer service department. Their representative refused to replace the tire, which was clearly faulty due to a manufacturing defect. I spent a lot of money on these tires and I expected better from General, now also Continental Tire. I ended up discarding the other three tires since I was afraid they would suffer the same fate as the first. I will never purchase another General Tire and recommend you do the same.
