- Hexagon head designed to be driven by a wrench or socket
- Also called hex cap bolts, hex bolts, tap bolts or hex cap screws
- Fully threaded from underside of head to tip
- Lightweight 2024-T4 Aluminum Alloy
- High strength-to-weight ratio
- Commonly used in the automotive and aerospace industries
- Resistant to atmospheric corrosion
Hex Cap Screws feature a hexagonal head designed to be driven with a wrench or socket and are commonly used with nuts and washers as a fastener assembly.
Aluminum Hex Bolts
2024-T4 Aluminum Alloy
Hex bolts in this selection are made from durable and lightweight 2024-T4 Aluminum Alloy which is corrosion resistant and non magnetic. Aluminum fasteners are prized for their extremely high strength-to-weight ratio, and are commonly used in the automotive, aerospace, and general machinery industries.
Fully Threaded Tap Bolts
Aluminum Tap Bolts, commonly referred to as hex tap bolts are hex head bolts with a full thread (tip to underneath head) regardless of the bolt length. Hex Tap Bolts differ from Hex Cap Screws in that Hex Cap Screws fully threaded in shorter lengths (usually around up to 1-1/4 inch, depending upon the bolt diameter), and partially threaded with a shoulder beneath the fastener hex head in longer lengths. Hex tap bolts, beneath a certain size, can be considered hex cap screws.
Common Uses
Fully threaded aluminum hex cap screws are commonly used with nuts and washers, however they are also driven into tapped holes due to the full threading of the bolt. In general, aluminum fasteners are used where weight is a concern. Aluminum bolts are commonly used for their corrosion resistance, lightweight and non- magnetic properties.
