Zipper opens totally up in washer. The mess!

Product appears high quality taking out of package. Appears durable, soft, thin and not too big. Has a plastic zipper on side and I THOUGHT there was maybe a big piece of foam side. Used one night by wife with Alzheimer's. She had an accident, pillow needs washed. Ran one time in a front loader. SURPRISE! Entire length of plastic zipper, maybe a foot long, unzipped itself and made the biggest mess of small pieces of stuffing all though the drum, stuck to towels, under the heavy rubber door gasket, stuck to bottom of glass bowel in door, very minor amount was even in the drain sink for the washer. Small stuffing that comes out easy by unzipping, this pillow even safe to give to a kid or compromised adults for inhalation risk?
