Serious Design Flaw

I bought this fixture as my wife and I felt it went with our other outdoor fixtures and we liked the design. Once installed, they provided nice lighting and looked quite nice. With that said, BEWARE, if you are buying these. There is a design flaw at the base with the threaded nipple that attaches to the cap. The nipple is only held on by 1/8" of metal, as opposed to threading it up into the shaft of the fixture. The result is that they snap very easily. One snapped while screwing it together and one snapped after installation. The others shook alight and didn't stay up straight. Fortunately, my electrician had a friend who was able to weld the nipples back on. The only way we could get these to install properly, without them breaking, was to put a 12" piece of PVC conduit around the fixture and driven into the ground. We filled all by 6" of it with dirt and the rest with concrete, so that at least 2" of the shaft was in the concrete. (so much for the electrical code). I then covered over the concrete with an inch of dirt. They are now sturdy and well set. As I live in an area that is subject to ice and snow storms, these fixtures would never have survived the winter. Kichler needs to redesign the base so that the nipple screws at least 2" up into the shaft and then into the cap.

Design Flaw

These products look great but have a design flaw that makes them worthless. My landscaper installed six of these this summer in my front yard. One broke off at the base during installation and another just broke off today. The metal that screws into the plastic anchor is incredibly thin and just corroded away. The lamp started leaning and when I touched it, the entire light just fell to the ground. I'll be calling my landscaper to see what options I have. Please don't make the same mistake I did, DO NOT PURCHASE THESE LIGHTS until Kichler fixes this design flaw.

Top Heavy lamps tilt and break

Lamps tilt and eventually break at base. Sockets are very short for such a tall and top heavy lamp.
